ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose women's soccer team earned a 3-0 victory in its home-opener tonight at the newly-renovated Sullivan Field.
The #6 nationally ranked Golden Knights received scores from junior forward
Mia Klammer and sophomore forwards
Lexi Grassia and
Ella Brower.
Klammer struck first for Saint Rose as she knocked home a low cross from freshman midfielder
Sydney Myers in the match's seventh minute. Myers did well to beat two Redhawks defenders to the end line before feeding Klammer.
The margin remained 1-0 until the middle stages of the second half when Grassia finished off a corner kick sequence with 21 minutes remaining. Klammer and graduate midfielder
Elina Seppala provided the assist on the play.
Brower brought the advantage to 3-0 in the 87th minute when she took advantage a failed Redhawk clearance to blast in a right-footed strike from the top of the 18-yard box.
Next up, the Golden Knights head to Philadelphia on Saturday to take on Holy Family at 2:00 pm.
