Box Score ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose women's volleyball team swept Bridgeport this evening in Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. The Golden Knights tallied a .338 team hitting percentage while limiting the visiting Purple Knights to a .104 percentage to claim the 25-21, 25-17, 25-20 triumph.
Senior outside hitter
Jessica Vargas led all players with 11 kills in the three-set victory. Vargas helped the Golden Knights to a 1-0 match lead with a five-kill effort in the first frame. She also landed five kills in the third set to help Saint Rose secure the sweep.
The middle blocker duo of senior
Karleigh Fripp and sophomore
Joanna Forrest contributed seven kills each for Saint Rose. Forrest matched Vargas with five kills in the first set, while Fripp logged four of her kills in the second. Fripp also recorded two solo blocks.
Juniors
Juliana Venduro and
Julia Cavalcanti finished with four kills apiece, while freshman middle blocker
Lorianna Mattutat earned three solo blocks to lead the defensive effort. Cavalcanti had three blocks as well.
Looking ahead, the Golden Knights will travel to Buffalo for this weekend's D'Youville Invitational. Â The action begins on Friday evening when Saint Rose faces Lake Erie, which will be followed by Saturday matchups with West Liberty and the host Saints.
