ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose women's soccer team remains unbeaten on the season after defeating Bentley 1-0 at Sullivan Field this afternoon.
The #2 nationally ranked Golden Knights received the go-ahead score from senior midfielder
Caitlin Wania to break the scoreless deadlock with 9:09 remaining in the second half.
The game-winning sequence began with blocked shots from junior forward
Mia Klammer and freshman midfielder
Ashley Kieblesz before Wania put the finishing touches on a
Kyrsten McGuffey attempt to score her first goal of the season.
Saint Rose held a 16-2 shot advantage over Bentley, however 11 saves by Falcon goalkeeper Claire Ewen would keep the Golden Knights off the board for the first 81 minutes of action.
Sophomores
Pia Bozic and
Peyton DeRouen split action in net to combine for the fifth shutout on the season for the Golden Knights.
Next up, Saint Rose will head to Worcester, Mass. on Tuesday to take on the Assumption at 7:00 pm. Bentley is back in action at home versus #25 Saint Anselm at 3:30 pm on Tuesday.
