ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose men's soccer team earned a 2-0 Northeast-10 Conference triumph against visiting Saint Anselm today at Sullivan Field.
The Golden Knights began the scoring very early in the first half, with sophomore back
Daniele Bottazzo sending in a right-footed laser from the top of the box with 2:36 elapsed. Bottazzo laced up his shot on one touch from a great pass from graduate midfielder
Joao Amaral.
Senior forward
Hilmar Halldorsson doubled the Saint Rose margin nearly 10 minutes later, as he knocked home a feed from senior midfielder
Nick Koenig.
After taking the 2-0 lead into halftime, the Golden Knights would threaten with several scoring chances in the final 45 minutes. Graduate forward
Jose Clemente found himself with open looks throughout the second half, including a point-blank shot with seven minutes remaining that was saved by Hawks keeper Alejandro Correal.
The Golden Knights manufactured an 13-9 overall shot advantage to earn their first NE10 victory this fall.
Next up, Saint Rose will head to Springfield, Mass. to challenge American International a 4:00 pm on Wednesday, October 4. Saint Anselm next faces Assumption on Saturday in Worcester, Mass.
