MEN'S SOCCER TAKES 2-2 DRAW VERSUS NEW HAVEN

ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose men's soccer team fought for a 2-2 draw against visiting New Haven this afternoon at Sullivan Field.

Senior forward Hilmar Halldorsson got the Golden Knights on the board in the ninth minute, as he headed home a cross from senior forward Lucas Malmquist. Graduate back Lukas Englich also tallied an assist on the play as he started the sequence with a nice pass up the wing to Malmquist.

After an equalizer from New Haven midway through the first frame, graduate forward Nico Faretta beat the buzzer with a right-footed strike that hit the back of the net with three seconds remaining in the half. Senior forward Valerii Burlacenco facilitated the last-second play with a pair of quality touches before assisting to Faretta.

The Chargers recorded the only goal in the final 45 minutes to bring the action to a draw. Their score came on a well-struck free kick by Augustus McGiff that sailed into the top-right corner of the Golden Knights' net. McGiff had also provided New Haven their first score on a free kick just outside the 18-yard box.

Saint Rose next faces American International at 1:00 pm on Saturday in Springfield, Mass. The Chargers on the road as well on Saturday, as they travel to Southern New Hampshire.
