ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose volleyball team started the 2023 season with a straight-set victory over Felician tonight in Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium.

Karleigh Fripp respectively recorded 11 and 10 kills apiece as the Golden Knights owned a 42-28 overall advantage in kills over the visiting Golden Falcons.
The Golden Knights took a 1-0 lead in the match after a 25-22 first set that saw 19 ties and nine lead changes. Senior outside hitter
Jessica Vargas tallied five kills, while Cavalcanti and junior defensive specialist
Madelyn Avery landed four kills each to lead the Golden Knights to the set win.Â

Katelyn Atchinson would serve six straight points in the second frame to help Saint Rose claim the set 25-18.
Atchinson began another long serving streak with the Golden Knights trialing 19-12 in the third set, which was followed by a strong service turn from sophomore setter
Alandra Hasbrouck.Â
Behind the serving efforts of Atchinson and Hasbrouck, Saint Rose battled to win 13 of the final 18 points to close out the third stanza. Cavalcanti contributed five kills throughout the rally to help the Golden Knights earn the sweep.
Saint Rose will be back home on Saturday to welcome Lock Haven and Assumption for a tri-match in Nolan Gymnasium. The day is set for the Golden Knights to face Lock Haven at 11:00 am before closing the day against Assumption at 4:00 pm. The Bald Eagles and Greyhounds will square off at 1:30 pm to round out the triple-header.
