SYRACUSE, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose softball team fell 6-3 and 6-5 at Le Moyne today. The Dolphins took advantage of a two-run home run by sophomore catcher Alyssa Dybacz in the opener and a three-run shot by freshman designated played Audrey Benderski in the game two to earn the sweep.
Sophomore right fielder
Nayana DeAmelia provided Saint Rose its only runs in game one, as she laced a double to right field that scored sophomore left fielder
Mattison Muller, sophomore third basemen
Emma Schaub, and freshman designated player
Maddy Bland.
DeAmelia also knocked an RBI double in the second game of the day that sparked a four-run fourth inning and helped the Golden Knights cut a 6-1 deficit down to a single run.
Following the DeAmelia double, sophomore pitcher
Madi Puppolo plated sophomore second basemen
Alexandra Deeter and DeAmelia with a double of her own.Â
Freshman center fielder
Katelyn Baker capped the rally with a triple that brought home Puppolo and cut what was once a 6-1 deficit down to a single run. The Golden Knights, however, would only manage one more hit after the big fourth, allowing the Dolphins to secure the 6-5 victory.
Puppolo finished 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI in game two. Junior first basemen
Madison Chandler logged multi-hit effort with a 2-for-4 with a run in the finale as well.
The Golden Knights return home to welcome Post University to Albany for a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday afternoon. Le Moyne is back in action with a Saturday series at American International.Â
