AUGUSTA, GA.- The College of Saint Rose baseball team was upended 9-7 today at Augusta University. Trailing throughout the afternoon, the Golden Knights plated four runs and put the tying run on base in an eighth inning rally, however, the Augusta bullpen was able to close the door and secure the win for the hosts.
Senior first basemen Jack McDonald finished 3-for-5 with a home run and three runs batted in. McDonald led a quartet of Golden Knights to log multi-hit efforts, with senior right fielder Tony Socci, freshman second basemen Jaden Fowler and freshman third basemen Jack Griffin contributing two hits apiece.Â
Griffin, McDonald, sophomore catcher Ryan Deo, and sophomore Vince Venditti would each provide run-scoring singles for Saint Rose in the big eighth inning.
Junior pitchers Chris Palmer and Stephen Orlando helped the Golden Knights stay within range, as the pair combined to allow only four baserunners across the final 5.0 innings out of the bullpen.
Saint Rose and the Jaguars are set for another matchup tomorrow, with first pitch coming at 12:00 pm.
