LEESBURG, FL- The College of Saint Rose softball team opened play at The Spring Games today with a 9-4 setback versus Concordia-Saint Paul.Â
The Golden Bears did all their scoring between two big innings, as Concordia-Saint Paul rallied for five runs in the second followed by four more in the third. Junior center fielder Clara Heislen was the catalyst for the Golden Bears, as she knocked in six runs on the afternoon.Â
Heislen slugged a two-out grand slam in the bottom of the second to put CSP up for good after Saint Rose had opened the scoring in the half inning prior with a sacrifice fly by sophomore shortstop
Abby Behrikis that scored sophomore third basemen
Emma Schaub.
Behrikis would also join sophomore cather
Ellen Fuda and junior center fielder
Ciana Phillips as Golden Knight run-scorers.
Phillips and junior first basemen
Madison Chandler each finished with two hits apiece to lead Saint Rose. Fuda also registered a pair of steals.
Looking forward, the Golden Knights continue the week in Florida with Sunday contests against Sioux Falls and Edinboro.
