SAINT ROSE CLOSES SPRING BREAK TRIP WITH 3-2 TRIUMPH OVER BLOOMFIELD

LEESBURG, FL- The College of Saint Rose softball team split today's doubleheader, as the Golden Knights completed its week-long trip at The Spring Games in central Florida with a 9-5 loss to Felician before edging Bloomfield 3-2 in the final contest of the tournament.

Junior first basemen Madison Chandler finished 3-for-4 with a run, while junior center fielder Ciana Phillips went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI in the game two win.

Phillips led off the top of the first with a solo home run to center field to quickly put Saint Rose 1-0 over the Bears.

After Bloomfield leveled the score at 1-1 in the third, sophomore catcher Ellen Fuda propelled the Golden Knights ahead again in the fifth with a two-out single that brought home sophomore left fielder Mattison Muller.

Freshman designated player Anna Cleary would increase the Golden Knight advantage to 3-1 an inning later with an RBI-groundout.

Sophomore starter Hannah Breen completed 5.2 innings to take the win, while senior right-handed Samantha Allen went the rest of the way to close out the save for Saint Rose.

Sophomore second basemen Alexandra Deeter was the offensive catalyst for the Golden Knights in the game one setback to Felician.  Deeter went 3-for-3 at the plate and reached base in all four at-bats, while also scoring a run and driving in two RBI.

Phillips, Fuda, and sophomore shortstop Abby Behrikis contributed RBI as well in the setback.

Saint Rose will return to action against Bentley on Sunday, March 26 in the Golden Knights home-opening doubleheader. First pitch is set for 12:00 pm at the Plumeri Sports Complex.
