SAINT ROSE NOTCHES FIRST WIN OF 2023 AT GOLDEY-BEACOM

WILMINGTON, Del.- The College of Rose earned a split in today's season-opening doubleheader at Goldey-Beacom. Saint Rose took the afternoon's finale 7-5 after the Lightning rode strong pitching to take the opener 5-0.

Junior infielder Alexandra Deeter went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, while sophomore pitcher Isabella Milazzo tossed 5.0 innings of three-hit ball to lead the Golden Knights to victory in game two.

The Golden Knights also received a pair of hits each from junior infielder Madison Chandler and sophomore Ellen Fuda in the win, with Chandler crossing the plate twice in addition to a run batted in. Sophomore outfielder Mattison Muller drove in a pair of runs as well.

Saint Rose rallied for two runs in both the second and third innings to take a 4-0 lead in game two. After Goldey-Beacom got one back in the third, the Golden Knights batted around in the top of the sixth to add on three more runs.

The Lightning would continue to fight into the bottom of the seventh, as the hosts plated four runs and had the tying run on second base before sophomore pitcher Hannah Breen secured the save for Saint Rose.

Sophomore infielder Emma Schaub, sophomore outfielder Nayana DeAmelia, and sophomore infielder Abby Behrikis each contributed RBI for the Golden Knights in the win.

Goldey-Beacom opened the series with a 5-0 triumph in the afternoon opener. Sophomore pitcher Morgan McLane surrendered one hit in 7.0 innings to earn the win for the Lightning. Freshman infielder Morgan Scott went 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI in game one.

Looking forward, the Golden Knights next head to Florida for THE Spring Games, where Saint Rose is slated to compete in 13 games between March 3-11 in Central Florida.
