MEN'S LACROSSE SUFFERS LAST-MINUTE DEFEAT IN NON-CONFERENCE BATTLE WITH FROSTBURG STATE

BALTIMORE, Maryland - Frostburg State scored with 1:02 left in the fourth quarter to down The College of Saint Rose in tonight's 11-10 non-conference battle at Homewood Field on the campus of Johns Hopkins University.

Junior attack Tyler Dooley netted the game-winner for Frostburg State, with the Bobcats cashing in on a extra-man opportunity following a Golden Knights penalty nearly 40 seconds prior.

In the moments before the winning strike from Dooley, Saint Rose had received goals less than one minute apart from senior attack Cam Smith and sophomore midfield Jackson Spikereit to tie the score at 10-10 with 3:06 remaining.

A slow start by the Golden Knights had handed Frostburg State a 4-0 lead after the opening 15 minutes. However, the Saint Rose offense began to click in the second quarter, with the Golden Knights owning five of the six scores in the frame to take a 5-5 tie into halftime.

From that point, the two squads would fight trough five lead changes and four ties in the second half before the Bobcats go-ahead strike in the final minute.

Smith finished with five goals, while senior attack Eddie Baker added a pair of scores. Freshman attack Noah Gibson registered a goal and four assists, while junior midfield Luke Pemrick joined Spikereit with a solo goal.

Senior midfield Jake Bowman tallied four goals and an assist to lead Frostburg State. Senior attack Bubba Love also scored three times in the victory.

Looking forward, Saint Rose returns north to face Georgian Court on Saturday at 12:00 pm  in Lakewood, N.J.
