STROUDSBURG, PA.- The College of Saint Rose baseball team opening the 2023 season with a pair of seven-inning games today at East Stroudsburg. The host Warriors, who received votes in the most recent NCBWA national rankings, would take the two matchups by scores of 18-1 and 3-2.
With the Golden Knights trailing 1-0 in game two, sophomore designated hitter
Nathan Toms deposited a solo home run out to left field to even the score at 1-1 in the top of the fourth.
East Stroudsburg would quickly jump ahead again in the next half inning, with first basemen Jack Rothenhausler blasting a two-run shot to put the Warriors back ahead 3-1.
Saint Rose would continue to fight down the final at-bat, as the Golden Knights plated a run in the top of the seventh and had the tying run on second base before East Stroudsburg reliever Nick McAuliffe was able to secure the save.

Louis Gendron, and
Sean Butkowski would each tally hits for Saint Rose in the game two setback. Butkowski also registered a pinch hit RBI single in the first game of the doubleheader.
Looking ahead, the two squads will wrap up the four-game series with another doubleheader tomorrow afternoon. First pitch in the twin bill is set for 11:00 am in Creekview Park.
