JUSIANIEC SCORES CAREER-HIGH 39 POINTS IN 72-67 VICTORY AT NEW HAVEN

WEST HAVEN, Conn- The College of Saint Rose men's basketball picked up a Northeast-10 road win as it defeated the New Haven Chargers 72-67 on Wednesday evening at Charger Gymnasium.

Freshman forward Max Jusianiec poured in a career-high 39 points on the night, surpassing his previous best of 30 scored on January 18th versus American International. Jusianiec was blazing hot from the field, shooting 64 percent on 14-of-22 shooting. Eight of his 14 made field goals were from behind the arc, which also marked a career best for the freshman.

For Jusianiec, the performance marked the highest scoring total by a Golden Knight since the 2013-14 season, and tied for fifth-most points scored in a single game in Saint Rose program history.

Jusianiec, junior forward Josh McGettigan, and sophomore guard Keegan Zoller would carry the scoring load for Saint Rose, as the trio was responsible for the Golden Knights first 67 points, and 68 of their 72 total points.

McGettigan finished with 18 points on 8-of-15 shooting and hit a late free throw to seal the victory for Saint Rose. He also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Zoller would come off the bench to go 3-from-3 from deep to the tune of 11 first half points.

Saint Rose was lights out from behind the arc early, shooting 62 percent (10-of-16) from three in the first half. Behind a 60 percent team shooting percentage in the first half, the Golden Knights would grow their advantage to as much as 16 points before taking a 45-31 lead into the break.

The Chargers would continue to chip away at the halftime deficit, as the Golden Knights margin eventually shrunk to just two points with 5:22 remaining. However, senior guard Frankie Phelan and freshman guard Lateik Briscoe would each convert key lay-ups late for the Golden Knights to thwart the late New Haven push.

Phelan finished with a game-high seven assists, while Briscoe added seven rebounds. Guard Quashawn Lane finished with 21 points for the Chargers.

The Golden Knights will be back in action on Tuesday at 7:30 PM when they host Southern Connecticut State at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. New Haven returns to Charger Gymnasium this Saturday at 3:30 PM versus American International.
