SAINT ROSE OUTLASTS D'YOUVILLE IN DOUBLE OVERTIME TO RUN WINNING STREAK TO EIGHT STRAIGHT

BUFFALO, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose women's basketball team bested D'Youville in double overtime this afternoon to earn its eighth consecutive victory. The Golden Knights outscored the hosts by a 15-5 margin in the second extra period to claim the road win.

Sophomore guard Payton Graber scored a game-high 23 points while also logging six rebounds, six assists, three steals, two blocks. Graber was especially efficient with free-throws in the all-around performance, as she finished 13-of-14 at the line.

Junior guard Syrita Faraj provided 16 points for the Golden Knights in an effort that included her 1,000th career collegiate point. Junior forward Maddisyn Mahoney tallied eight points while also leading all players with 10 boards. Sophomore forward Aniya McDonald-Perry finished with seven points, seven rebounds, and three steals.

Coming off an 18-day layoff, Saint Rose was locked in a back-and-forth contest with their counterpart throughout much of the afternoon. The two squads exchanged the lead eight times and tied the score in seven other instances through regulation. The Golden Knights trailed by six with under two minutes left in the fourth, however a late run capped by a Mahoney layup with 25 seconds remaining sent the action to overtime with a 48-48 margin.

The two sides would trade points in the first overtime until the Saints converted a go-ahead bucket with 35 ticks left, prompting a Golden Knights timeout. Out of the huddle, Saint Rose would receive an equalizing layup from Faraj to tie things up again at 55 all.

The Golden Knights would carry the momentum into the second OT, as Saint Rose posted a 7-0 run over the first three minutes of the period to pull away. The Golden Knights shot 9-for-9 at the line in the final overtime to finish off a 21-of-24 team effort from the charity stripe.

Saint Rose is set to return to Northeast-10 Conference action on Wednesday at 5:30 pm at American International.
