ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose registered an efficient team offensive performance in this afternoon's Northeast-10 Conference victory over Adelphi, with the Golden Knights tallying a season-best 49.2 shooting percentage (32-of-65) from the floor to secure the 81-71 triumph.
Four different Golden Knights finished in double-figures to help Saint Rose defeat Adelphi for just the second time since 2012. Senior forward
Makaela Johnson and freshman guard
Kaelah Carter led the way with 21 points apiece, while sophomore forward
Lateisha Willis and freshman forward Aniya-McDonald Perry finished with 14 and 12 points, respectively. For Carter, the scoring total marked a career-best.
Johnson and McDonald-Perry also topped the Golden Knights with 8 rebounds each. Sophomore guard
Ryley Blasetti handed out 7 assists.
The Golden Knights started hot this afternoon and never looked back, with Saint Rose making its first seven fields goals to establish a double-digit lead in the first quarter. The Golden Knights advantage reached as much as 16 in the second half, as Saint Rose dominated for 50 points in the paint in the wire-to-wire win.
Guard Ty'zhea Hawkins led all scorers with 28 points for the Panthers. Guard Rolanda Robinson added 16 points and 5 rebounds.
Next up, the Golden Knights host D'Youville in a 4:00 pm non-conference tilt on Wednesday in Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. The Panthers return home to welcome Franklin Pierce on Tuesday at 5:30 pm.
