LATE RALLY NOT ENOUGH FOR SAINT ROSE AT SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT STATE

NEW HAVEN, Conn.- The College of Saint Rose was edged 51-47 tonight at Northeast-10 Conference rival Southern Connecticut State.

After trailing by double-digits throughout much of the second half, a late flurry brought the Golden Knights to within one possession with under a minute remaining, however the host Owls were able to hold on and close out the four-point victory at the free throw line.

The forward pair of freshman Aniya McDonald-Perry and sophomore Kaileigh Hunt led Saint Rose with 10 points apiece. Sophomore forward Lateisha Willis grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

The Owls posted their third win a row by limiting the Golden Knights to 29.0 percent (18-of-62) on field goal attempts.

Junior forward Katie Williamson finished with 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting for Southern Connecticut State.

Looking ahead, Saint Rose will turn around to face New Haven on the road on Wednesday at 5:30 pm. SCSU next faces Pace University in a Saturday afternoon matchup in Pleasantville, N.Y.
