ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose and Northeast-10 Conference rival Le Moyne were locked in a late battle today at Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium, with the visiting Dolphins scoring eight of the final ten points in the contest to secure the 63-58 victory this afternoon.
Freshman guard
Kaelah Carter scored a game-high 15 points to lead the Golden Knights, while senior forward
Makaela Johnson and junior guard
Isabel Sanchez added 14 and 11 points, respectively. Sophomore forward
Lateisha Willis tallied a team-best nine rebounds, while Johnson grabbed eight boards.
After the Dolphins led by 38-26 at halftime, Saint Rose would open the third quarter with 14 consecutive points to establish its first advantage of the day. The quarter would end with the Golden Knights ahead one after outscoring Le Moyne 23-10 in the stanza.
A seesaw fourth quarter saw eight lead changes and six ties before Dolphin guard Kaia Goode got a running layup to fall with 53 seconds remaining to break a 58-58 deadlock. Trailing by two, the Golden Knights got a quality look on their potential game-tying possession, however a three-pointer from the wing by Sanchez missed long.
Goode topped Le Moyne with 15 points. Guards Sienna Linnin, Sydney Lusher, and Lytoya Baker were all in double-figures as well to lead the Dolphins to their 10th win in the last 11 games.
Looking ahead, the Golden Knights return to action on Monday at 5:30 pm at Southern Connecticut State. Le Moyne next faces Adelphi at home on Wednesday night.
