BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - The College of Saint Rose struck early and controlled pace for the most of the match to win its third straight behind tonight's 1-0 victory at Bloomfield.
Overall, the Golden Knights (3-1-0) manufactured a 12-7 shot advantage, including an 8-4 differential in threats on target, and generated 11 corners, while yielding just four.
"I'm really happy with the performance tonight. It was a total team effort. We competed hard. We were resilient and did what we needed to do away from home to get a win," said Head Coach
Steve Wieczorek.
Junior forward
Hilmar Halldorsson scored his team-leading third strike of the season and sophomore keeper
Tomas Rozman registered his fifth career shutout to propel the Golden Knights.
Rozman made a pair of saves, both in the first half, when the Bears (0-2-1) recorded five of their seven shots. At the other end, junior Jomar Vizcaino recorded five of his seven stops throughout the second stanza to keep Bloomfield within striking distance.
Looking ahead, both sides begin their league dockets Saturday. Saint Rose opens its Northeast-10 Conference schedule with a 4:30 pm date versus Southern Connecticut State, while the Bears get their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference slate underway with a 3:30 pm meeting at Goldey-Beacom College.
