#8 GOLDEN KNIGHTS DEFEAT ASSUMPTION TO REMAIN UNBEATEN

ALBANY, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose scored the lone goal it needed late in the first half and added two more throughout the game's final 12 minutes to upend visiting Northeast-10 Conference rival Assumption 3-1 tonight.

In the process, the #8 ranked Golden Knights (8-0-2/4-0-2 NE10) extended their season long unbeaten streak to 10 matches and improved to 4-0 at home.

Saint Rose controlled possession for 56.0 percent of the game and six different players figured in the scoring. The Golden Knights developed an 18-6 shot advantage and a 12-4 corner kick differential, while posting their fifth shutout of the season. It also marked the ninth time they held an opponent to a goal or fewer.

Junior midfielders Caylee Boorse and Kelly Coster, and junior back Sanna Rein accounted for the three Saint Rose goals. Meanwhile, junior midfielder Jen Bartlett, freshman forward Madelyn Wania, and sophomore back Alexandra Getfield each collected an assist.

Freshman keeper Pia Bozic recorded both of her saves in the second half.

Boorse scored the eventual game-winner when she touched home a loose ball that deflected off a few players following a corner kick from the near flag with 37:31 elapsed.

Saint Rose then played the vast majority of the second half in the offensive third that eventually yielded a pair of strikes seven minutes apart.

Wania delivered a corner to the middle of the area that Rein headed home at the 78:37 mark. Getfield then drove a hard strike from about 12-yards out that forced Assumption (2-3-2/1-3-1 NE10) sophomore keeper Julia Walsh to make a nice diving save to her right. However, Coster immediately knocked in the rebound to make it 3-0 Golden Knights with 85:10 gone by.

Up next, both sides have home league matches Saturday. Saint Rose faces Saint Anselm at 2:00 pm, while the Greyhounds meet Southern Connecticut State at 3:00 pm.
