BALANCED EFFORT PROPELS #8 AND STILL UNDEFEATED SAINT ROSE PAST SAINT ANSELM

ALBANY, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose kept its season-long unbeaten streak intact with today's 2-0 victory against visiting Saint Anselm in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup at the Plumeri Sports Complex.

The nationally ranked Golden Knights (9-0-2/5-0-2 NE10), who entered the afternoon with the country's eighth best winning percentage, used its usual balanced effort. Four different players figured in the scoring and 25 players saw action for Saint Rose, which controlled the ball for 57.0 percent of the match and engineered a 14-5 shot advantage and a 14-4 corner kick differential.

A pair of freshmen forwards in Emilie Kristensen and Madelyn Wania provided the two goals, while yet another freshman in keeper Pia Bozic recorded three saves as the Golden Knights recorded their sixth shutout of the season.

Both strikes were well set up. Sophomore back Alexandra Getfield sent a through ball that Kristensen gathered in stride, before firing a shot from 12-yards out inside the right post with 18:28 gone by. Sophomore back Ryleigh Hopeck then touched a ball to Wania who sailed a shot from about 30-yards out just underneath the crossbar with 48:54 elapsed.

Saint Rose dominated possession throughout the final 41 minutes, while its defense quickly thwarted any potential Saint Anselm offensive breakouts.

Freshman keeper Emma Hudson wound up with three saves for the Hawks (6-4-1/2-4-1 NE10), who came into the afternoon unbeaten in three of their previous four matches (2-1-1).

Up next, both sides have upcoming byes and thus are off until next Saturday when Saint Rose travels to Manchester to face a dangerous Southern New Hampshire squad at 4:00 pm. The Penmen are receiving votes in this week's United Soccer Coaches National Poll. Meanwhile, the Saint Anselm is scheduled to host American International at 3:00 pm that day.
