PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. - The College of Saint Rose battled all the way back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Northeast-10 Conference rival Pace University in five sets this afternoon. After the Setters claimed sets one and two, Saint Rose would stay alive by taking the third and fourth frames before capping the comeback with a 15-8 victory in the deciding fifth stanza.Â

Jessica Vargas led all players with 15 kills, while sophomore middle blocker
Julia Cavalcanti registered 12 kills for Saint Rose (7-8/1-1 NE10). The pair was efficient in its strikes, with Vargas measuring a swing rate of .316 alongside Cavalcanti's hit percentage of .345.

Pace (2-10/0-2 NE10) took control early with 29 kills on a .236 percentage in the first two frames. However, the momentum began to shift after Saint Rose forced a fourth set with a 25-16 win in the third.
The Golden Knights attack would continue to improve as the match progressed, as Saint Rose recorded a strike percentage of .293 compared to the Setter's mark of .087 across sets four and five.

Valeria Jorge was key in the comeback with 35 assists and team-best 23 digs. Sophomore libero
Katelyn Atchinson and Vargas respectively totaled 20 and 13Â digs as well, while the freshman middle blocker duo of
Joanna Forrest and
Teresa Moulder respectively added six and seven kills apiece to the winning effort.
Junior outside hitter Madisen Lupica topped the Setters with 14 kills. Sophomore setter Georgette Consentino recorded 45 assists and four service aces.
Looking ahead, Saint Rose returns to Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium to host American International on Friday at 7:00 pm. The Setters are next in action on Tuesday night at Adelphi on Long Island.
