ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose fell to American International in straight sets tonight in Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium, with the Northeast-10 Conference-leading Yellow Jackets earning the victory with set scores of 25-16, 28-26, and 25-21.
Junior outside hitter
Jessica Vargas tallied 13 kills to lead Saint Rose (7-9/1-2 NE10) in the setback. Sophomore middle blocker
Karleigh Fripp recorded eight kills on a .500 swing rate.Â
The Golden Knights best moments came in a tight second set in which Saint Rose landed 18 kills, including eight from Vargas.
Graduate student outside hitter Andrea Serra Rosa and sophomore outside hitter Paola Soto-Burgos had 12 and 11 kills, respectively, for American International (14-1/3-0 NE10). Junior setter Naomi Eckert Rivera distributed 41 assists.
Looking ahead, Saint Rose turns around to host Adelphi tomorrow at 11:00 am while the Yellow Jackets head home to welcome New Haven on Tuesday night.
