#11 SAINT ROSE EXETENDS SEASON-LONG UNBEATEN STREAK TO NINE MATCHES

WALTHAM, Mass. – The College of Saint Rose ran its season long unbeaten streak to nine matches with today's 3-1 victory at Northeast-10 Conference rival Bentley University.

The Golden Knights (7-0-2/3-0-2 NE10), ranked #11 in this week's United Soccer Coaches National Poll, scored a pair of goals 10 minutes apart in the first half to put themselves in the driver's seat. Five different players figured in the scoring column and 10 different players accounted for the squad's 18 shots.

Overall, Saint Rose manufactured a 10-4 shot-on-goal advantage and its defensive unit stood stout again as the Golden Knights held an opponent to one goal or fewer for the eighth time this autumn.

Freshman forward Madelyn Wania, junior midfielder Lauren Amerena, and senior midfielder Janina Mueller all found the back of the net for Saint Rose. Junior back Sanna Rein and freshman midfielder Emilie Kristensen each picked up an assist, while freshman keeper Pia Bozic recorded three saves throughout 59:14 of action.

Wania made it 1-0 with 17:07 elapsed after the Golden Knights maintained possession in the area off a corner kick. Rein got to a loose ball and redirected it to Wania who drove her volley under the crossbar.

Amerena accounted for the game-winner at the 26:25 mark with a nifty run through the center of the pitch. She collected the ball at midfield and penetrated into the area with the ball at her feet, before deking a defender and driving a shot from about 10-yards out inside the far right post.

The third strike was just as impressive. Kristensen delivered a nice through pass that Mueller ran onto in stride. The latter then dribbled around a Bentley player to create a space for a low drive from the center of the area that sailed low inside the right post.

The Falcons (3-3-2/2-2-0 NE10), who were riding a two-match win streak entering this afternoon, got on the board with a perfunctory strike at the 83:39 mark when senior midfielder Aidan Hopkins scored unassisted.

Looking ahead, both sides have conference dates Tuesday. Saint Rose returns home to take on Assumption at 6:00 pm, while the Falcons travel to Manchester, N.H. to meet Saint Anselm for a 4:00 pm encounter.
