ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose welcomed Roberts Wesleyan and Frostburg State to Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium today for a non-conference tri-match. The Golden Knights began the afternoon with a 3-1 victory over Roberts before falling in straight-sets to the Bobcats in the finale.
Five different players registered six or more kills for Saint Rose in opening match victory. Sophomore middle blocker
Karleigh Fripp tallied a team-best 11 kills while the outside hitter duo of sophomore
Juliana Venduro and junior
Jessica Vargas added 10 and nine kills, respectively.

Valeria Jorge facilitated the Saint Rose attack with 40 assists in the win.
The Golden Knights were successful in closing out sets against the Redhawks, propelling to a 25-20 victory in set one after Roberts had built a 17-15 advantage. Saint Rose also finished the deciding-fourth set by claiming 10 of the final 15 points in the frame.
Saint Rose would next matchup against a stout Frostburg State defense that limited the Golden Knights to a .129 swing percentage across the three sets of action.
Cavalcanti recorded 14 kills and Vargas landed 12 kills to top Saint Rose in the setback against the Bobcats. Jorge was strong again with 38 helpers.
Junior outside hitter Beverly Braun led Frostburg State (12-4) with 16 kills in the win over the Golden Knights (7-6). Braun also helped the Bobcats sweep Roberts Wesleyan (2-9) with a 19-kill performance in the middle match of the day.
Looking ahead, all three squads are back in action at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, with the Golden Knights staying in Nolan Gym to host Northeast-10 Conference rival New Haven. Roberts Wesleyan travels to Syracuse to face Le Moyne, while Frostburg State continues conference play at Alderson Broaddus in Philippi, W. Va..
Notes: Jorge ranks third in the NE10 with an average of 8.70 assists per set and also lists seventh in the league with 151 digs...Vargas (116 kills) and Cavalcanti (103 kills) each rank in the top-15 in the conference…Cavalcanti also the tops the NE10 with 27 aces...Fripp owns the league's fourth-best swing percentage with a mark of .376.
