COLCHESTER, Vt. – The College of Saint Rose had its season-opening string of five straight wins snapped in tonight's 0-0 draw at Northeast-10 Conference rival Saint Michael's.
The Purple Knights relied on their defense once again as they came into the match having surrendered one goal all year, in Saturday's 1-0 conference loss to visiting Southern Connecticut State. Meanwhile, the nationally ranked Golden Knights (5-0-1/1-0-1 NE10) displayed their usual balanced attack as four different players manufactured their five shots at frame.
The contest featured a relative high 22 fouls, 13 against Saint Michael's (1-1-2/0-1-0 NE10). The Purple Knights were shown three yellow cards while the Golden Knights picked up one.
The match was scoreless thanks in no small part to the keepers. Freshman
Pia Bozic came up with three saves to capture her second shutout of the season, while Saint Michael's senior Katie Escobedo turned aside five threats on target to keep the match scoreless.
Going forward, both side have road league dates Saturday. Saint Rose aims to remain unbeaten as it heads to New Haven for a 5:00 pm meeting at Southern Connecticut State, while the Purple Knights head south to Long Island for an 11:00 am date at Adelphi.
