VARGAS, CAVALCANTI, AND FRIPP ALL FINISH WITH DOUBLE-DIGIT KILLS IN WIN OVER POST

ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose utilized a balanced offensive attack to earn a 3-1 victory over Post University tonight in Nolan Gymnasium. Three different Golden Knights recorded at least 10 kills as Saint Rose swung .358 percent as a team to knock off the visiting Eagles.

Junior outside hitter Jessica Vargas topped the Golden Knights attack with 11 kills, while sophomore middle blockers Julia Cavalcanti and Karleigh Fripp provided 10 kills each. Junior setter Valeria Jorge facilitated the offense with 33 assists.

"After a tough weekend, it was important for the team to come out strong and be in control of what we can control," said Head Coach Vanessa Volpe-Rivera. "This was a win that we earned and all worked hard to get. As their coach, I couldn't be any more proud."

Vargas recorded five of her kills in a 25-10 opening set win in which the Golden Knights swung .538 while holding Post to a .100 swing rate. Saint Rose would extend the match lead to 2-0 after using a 15-8 sprint late to take the second set.

The Eagles fought off a sweep by claiming the third frame, 25-23. Junior outside hitter Zara McCauley registered seven of her team-best 11 kills in the third for Post.

Freshman outside hitter Joanna Forrest tallied five kills and the Golden Knights landed six aces in the fourth to close out the match. After Post took a 12-11 lead in the stanza, Saint Rose would win 14 of the final 18 points to remain unbeaten in Nolan Gym this season.

Senior outside hitter Lydimar Soto and junior middle hitter Aniya Goodman finished with 10 kills apiece for Post (0-4).
