AMHERST, N.Y. - The College of Saint Rose got the 2022 season off to a strong start behind today's 2-1 victory at Daemen University.

The Golden Knights (1-0 ), ranked #2 in the United Soccer Coaches National Preseason Poll, manufactured a 21-9 shot advantage and developed seven corners, while yielding only a pair.

Kyrsten McGuffey put Saint Rose up 1-0 with 16:57 elapsed in her Golden Knights debut. Freshman keeper
Pia Bozic also had an impressive initial showing with five saves on the afternoon.

"It was a hard fought win on the road. Pia played well between the posts with a few quality saves, our defense was solid, and we created some great chances with Kyrsten and Caylee finishing quality goals," said Head Coach

Junior forward Brooke Amato tied it for the Wildcats (0-1) at the 27:52 mark.

Looking ahead, Saint Rose returns to action Wednesday with a 1:00 pm meeting at Nyack College. The match will be played at Laurel Hill Park in Seacaucus, N.J. Meanwhile, Daemen is back home Tuesday for a 1:00 pm date with Le Moyne.
Notes: The Golden Knights are ranked #2 in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason National Poll…Saint Rose has now won 14 consecutive season openers…The last setback was a 2-1 defeat at the of hands of C.W. Post in 2008.
