ALBANY, N.Y. - The College of Saint Rose fell to visiting Mansfield University in a pair of scheduled seven inning, non-conference games this afternoon at Bob Bellizzi Field. The Golden Knights fought back from an 8-3 deficit, before falling 10-9 in 10 innings in the first contest and then dropped the second outing 8-5.

Saint Rose (19-25) scored four times in the sixth to get to within a run in the opener. The Golden Knights then tied it by pushing across another run in the seventh and loaded the bases with none out, but the Mounties (22-22) induced a double play and retired the following batter on a fly out to force extra innings.

Each team scored in the eighth, before Mansfield pushed across the winning run in the tenth.

Niko Mokanos went 4-for-5 with three RBI to pace the Saint Rose 17-hit attack. Sophomore right fielder

James Dolan had two hits apiece.

Meanwhile, senior shortstop Assaf Lowengart doubled twice and belted a solo home run to lead the Mounties.

In the second game, Mansfield jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the third and never trailed.

Thomas Krill smacked a two-run double to the right-center field gap in the third and brought home another run on a fielder's choice in the fifth. Freshman right-hander
Paul Montesanti hurled 2.1 innings of one-hit ball out of the bullpen.

Sophomore third baseman Brittain Shander went 3-for-3 to propel the Mounties.

Looking ahead, both teams close out their regular-season dockets with conference series this weekend. Saint Rose hosts Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division leader Adelphi on Friday and Saturday for a pair of doubleheaders, while Mansfield entertains Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division rival Millersville for a twin-bill on Saturday.
Notes: Saint Rose has outscored its opponents 42-25 in the first inning this season…The Golden Knights are now 5-7 in one-run games, 5-0 in two-run contests, and 1-1 in extra innings…Fourteen different players had at least one hit throughout today's doubleheader.
