GOLDEN KNIGHTS CELEBRATE SENIOR DAY WITH DECISIVE WIN VERSUS FRANKLIN PIERCE

ALBANY, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose celebrated its 2022 Senior Day with this afternoon's 14-7 win versus Northeast-10 Conference rival Franklin Pierce at Sullivan Field within the Plumeri Sports Complex. The contest marked the season-finale for both squads.

The Golden Knights led throughout the game's final 54 minutes and put themselves in control with a 6-2 run that spanned the last 20 minutes of the first half that afforded them a 9-4 advantage at intermission. Franklin Pierce (6-7/3-7 NE10) got no closer than within five goals the rest of the way.

"It was great to be able to go out and celebrate our seniors with a total team win. We played fast on offense and were opportunistic on defense for the whole game. I'm very excited about the future with this group," said Head Coach Alex Williams.

Overall, Saint Rose (8-9/3-7 NE10) manufactured a 30-21 shot-on-goal advantage and forced the Ravens into 25 turnovers.

Junior attacks Eddie Baker and Cam Smith paced the offense. Baker scored six goals and set up two others, while Smith found the back of the cage on five occasions and also had an assist. Fifth-year attack Jack Pemrick had a goal and an assist, while freshman midfielder Nathan Ham and junior attack Anthony Barone accounted for the final two strikes.

In the back, junior Riley Hauf created five turnovers while sophomores Andrew Lowe and Edward Wurszt each caused a pair. Junior goalie Ryan Fleming recorded eight of his 14 saves after halftime.

Graduate student midfielder Josh Dorr, junior midfielder Sean Daly, and junior attack Owen McCormack had two goals apiece for Franklin Pierce.

Baker afforded Saint Rose a 1-0 lead with 8:52 remaining in the first quarter. Daly tied it a mere 31 seconds later, but Ham finished a Pemrick feed on an extra-man opportunity with 6:09 left and the Golden Knights never trailed again.

Smith then scored unassisted to make it a 3-1 game with 5:00 left in the first and Baker finished at the buzzer to ignite the decisive run and make it 4-2 Golden Knights heading to the second.
Notes: The eight wins for Saint Rose this season are the second most in program history…The Golden Knights won a school record nine games in 2018…Baker finished with a team-leading 42 goals on the year and Smith fired home 39, the third and fourth highest single-season totals…Carter Badour recorded 44 in both 2018 and 2019…Pemrick tied a school record with his 50th career assist today, joining Kris Miller (2012-15).
Senior Day: Prior to today's game; Jack Pemrick, Patrick McHugh, John Loughlin, Zachery Deakin, and Ellis Pemrick were honored in recognition of their contributions to the men's lacrosse program.
Golden Knights Golf Classic: The Golden Knights Golf Classic is set for Friday, June 10 at Pinehaven Country Club. Reunite with friends, teammates, alumni and supporters of the Golden Knights for a round of golf. All proceeds will directly benefit the 350-plus Saint Rose student-athletes. The success of the Golden Knights Golf Classic, as our primary department fundraising event, is contingent upon the generosity of friends, alumni, and others to participate in this year's event. Your financial support will enhance the intercollegiate experience for our student-athletes and allow our programs to stay on par with our NCAA Division II competitors in the ever-changing landscape of intercollegiate athletics.
