SAINT ROSE HURT BY THE LONG BALL AT SAINT MICHAEL'S

COLCHESTER, VT.- The College of Saint Rose was defeated twice today at Saint Michael's, with the host Purple Knights earning the pair of Northeast-10 Conference victories by the margins of 4-3 and 5-1.

In game one, junior center fielder Hope Hiscock singled home the winning run to help Saint Michael's earn the walk-off win in the bottom of the seventh.

The Purple Knights had hit back-to-back solo home runs in the sixth to even the score at 3-3 after Saint Rose built a 3-1 lead in the early innings.

The Golden Knights were able to manufacture their advantage with two Saint Michael's errors leading to a pair runs in the second, followed by a third-inning sacrifice fly from sophomore first baseman Madison Chandler that scored sophomore center fielder Ciana Phillips.

Chandler stayed hot throughout the afternoon, finishing 2-for-3 for Saint Rose (12-27/8-14 NE10) in the game two setback.

Saint Michael's (8-21/4-12 NE10) grabbed an early lead with its third home run of the day, a solo shot by junior third baseman Hannah Arruda in the bottom of the second, before growing the lead to 5-0 with scores in each of the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings.

Senior shortstop Savanna Liverio-Tyler recorded an RBI in the seventh inning of the finale with a run-scoring single that plated sophomore pinch hitter Alexandra Deeter.
