RINDGE, N.H. – The College of Saint Rose dropped both ends to today's doubleheader at Franklin Pierce as the host Ravens used a big inning in each game to improve to 8-0 at home this season. The Ravens (16-8) broke open the matinee by scoring eight times in the eighth on the way to a 20-10 win, and then pushed across five runs in the fourth to take the finale 9-2.

The two teams sent 99 batters to the plate and pounded out 32 hits collectively in the opener. Franklin Pierce snapped a 7-7 tie with a run in the fifth and four more in the sixth, before putting itself in control two innings later.

Sophomore catcher
Derek Haughey finished 4-for-4 with two RBI and a pair of runs scored, and junior left fielder
Zephaniah Vaughn belted a three-run homer over the left field fence in the fourth to lead the Golden Knights (11-17) offense. Junior first baseman
Jack McDonald went 2-for-4 with three runs scored, while sophomore designated hitter
Nathan Toms and sophomore right fielder
Josh Myers each drove in two runs.

Meanwhile, the Ravens belted three round trippers including a three-run shot off the bat of sophomore first baseman Jose Savinon that highlighted their eighth inning outburst. Savinon finished 2-for-4 with three runs scored and five RBI.

In the second game, sophomore second baseman
Jelani Hamer went 2-for-4 with a two-run double in the second and freshman right-hander
Vince Venditti tossed 2.0 innings of shutout ball in relief to pace Saint Rose.

Graduate student first baseman Charles Lebron went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer over the left-centerfield fence in the fourth to lead Franklin Pierce.

Looking ahead, both squads have weekend Northeast-10 Conference series this Friday and Saturday. The Golden Knights heads to Pleasantville to face Pace University, while Franklin Pierce hosts Saint Anselm.
