SAINT ROSE SWEEPS DOUBLEHEADER AGAINST LE MOYNE BEHIND STRONG PITCHING AND TIMELY HITTING

ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose swept Le Moyne in a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader today at Cathy Haker Field. The Golden Knights utilized a phenomenal performance by freshman right hander Isabella Milazzo to claim the 1-0 victory in the opener, followed by an offensive outburst in the second game of the day to defeat the Dolphins 12-2.

Milazzo limited Le Moyne to only three hits across 7.0 innings in game one. She struck out seven and did not allow a Dolphin runner past first base until the seventh inning.

Saint Rose (9-22/5-9 NE10) broke open the pitching-dual in the bottom of the fifth when sophomore outfielder Ciana Phillips sent a double to deep center field that allowed freshman left fielder Mattison Muller to score the game's lone run.

Le Moyne (11-17/3-9 NE10) threatened in the seventh. However, freshman third basemen Emma Schaub was able to throw out the potential tying run at the plate on a heads-up play. Schaub perfectly timed her charge in on a bunt attempt and flipped the ball to freshman catcher Ellen Fuda, who was able to apply the tag just as the Le Moyne runner was bearing down on home plate from third base.

The afternoon's second game saw Saint Rose explode for 11 runs in a marathon third-inning in which the Golden Knights sent 16 batters to the plate. The frame ended with Saint Rose holding the 12-2 advantage that would hold as the final score after five innings.

Sophomore first basemen Madison Chandler and junior left fielder Morgan Tyrrell each finish 3-for-3 in the finale. Chandler tallied three RBI and Tyrrell scored three times.

Phillips went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Schaub added a pair of runs as well for the Golden Knights in game two.

Up next, the Golden Knights stay at Cathy Haker Field to host American International for a pair on Friday beginning at 2:00 pm. Le Moyne is home as well Friday with a 12:30 pm twin-bill versus Assumption.
