WINTER HAVEN, FLA.- The College of Saint Rose battled Mercyhurst today at THE Spring Games, with the Lakers taking the 3-1 victory at the Diamond Plex Softball Complex.
The Golden Knights (1-6) took a 1-0 lead in the first after sophomore outfielder
Ciana Phillips lined a double to left field and later scored on a sacrifice fly by sophomore infielder
Madison Chandler.
The narrow lead remained until the fifth inning, when Mercyhurst stung the Golden Knights for three runs.Â
The big hit came with one out in the frame when junior infielder Marisa Cartellone lined a two-run single to break a 1-1 tie. Cartellone proved to be tough out for Saint Rose all afternoon, finishing 3-for-3 with the two runs batted in.
Sophomore pitcher Mikaela Schramski held the Golden Knights to just three baserunners over her 7.0 innings to earn the win for Mercyhurst (4-1).

Hannah Breen tallied 11 strikeouts in 6.0 innings.
The Golden Knights resume play at THE Spring Games on Tuesday with a 10:00 am match-up with Trevecca Nazarene before facing the University of Sciences at 12:15 pm.
