SAINT ROSE CONTINUES STRONG START TO 2022 WITH A 17-7 WIN AT POST UNIVERSITY


WATERBURY, CONN.- The College of Saint Rose continued its strong start to the 2022 season with a 17-7 victory this afternoon over Post University.

11 different players registered points for the Golden Knights in the team effort, led by sophomore midfielder Daria Bock's six points. Bock netted a team-high four goals in addition to two assists.

Freshman attacker Katy McPeak dished out a team-high four assists to go along with a goal in her five-point afternoon. Freshman attacker Lauren Pendergast and sophomore midfielder Eileen Rattigan each tallied three goals, while sophomore attacker Kaitlyn Jolly netted two scores as well.

"Today was a great team win. I thought we fought hard on draw control and on 50/50 opportunities," said Saint Rose Head Coach Sarah Martin. "We played together and had a lot of success on the offensive side of the ball. We look forward to starting Northeast-10 Conference play next week."

With the score knotted at 2-2 early, the Saint Rose offense exploded for 10 of the next 11 goals to end the first half with a 12-3 lead. The quartet of Bock, Rattigan, Pendergast, and Jolly combined for nine goals in the opening two quarters to help the Golden Knights build their advantage.

Sophomore goalies Dorothy Gaffney and Nicole Frese paired to make 10 saves on 17 shots faced in net for Saint Rose (2-0). 

Junior attack Morgan Cassiliano recorded five goals to lead the Eagles (1-3) in the setback.

Looking ahead, the Golden Knights see their first NE10 action of the season against Pace University on Saturday, March 12 at 12:00 pm in Pleasantville, N.Y. Post University welcomes American International on Wednesday for a 3:00 pm match-up.
