SAINT ROSE DEFEATED AT NEW HAVEN


WEST HAVEN, CONN.- The College of Saint Rose fell to Northeast-10 Conference rival New Haven 74-62 tonight.

The host Chargers outscored Saint Rose 21-11 in the first quarter and maintained a double-digit lead throughout much of the first half.

The Golden Knights responded with a big third quarter, ending the frame on an 8-2 stretch to reduce the New Haven advantage to 51-48 going into the fourth.

New Haven (7-12/2-11 NE10) rallied to build a lead that reached 15 points in the final quarter on its way to securing the league victory.

Fifth-year forward Nina Fedullo recorded a "double-double" of 13 points and 10 rebounds, while sophomore guard Isabel Sanchez tallied 12 points. Junior forward Shamim Wambere logged nine points and six rebounds, and junior Becca Townes dished out six assists for the Golden Knights (3-14/2-11 NE10).

Junior guard Kameryn King led New Haven with 25 points. Graduate guard Brie Pergola added 18 points and junior forward Aurora Deshaies registered 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Moving ahead, Saint Rose returns to Nolan Gym on Saturday afternoon to host Adelphi for Senior Day at 1:30 pm. The Chargers stay home to welcome Southern New Hampshire on Thursday at 5:30 pm.
Notes: The young Saint Rose roster features eight freshmen, four sophomores, three juniors, and one fifth-year…Fedullo averages 10.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game, with the latter mark ranking fifth in the NE10…Junior Becca Townes scores 9.7 points and pulls down 4.3 boards per game...She also ranks third and tied for 10th in the league respectively with averages of 2.2 steals and 2.8 assists per game…As a team, the Golden Knights are second in the conference with 9.1 swipes on a nightly basis.
