ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose battled late into the fourth quarter against Northeast-10 Conference rival Adelphi, with the visiting Panthers rallying to take a 62-56 victory this afternoon in Nolan Gymnasium.
A lay-up by fifth-year forward
Nina Fedullo with two seconds remaining in the third quarter allowed the Golden Knights to take a 48-44 advantage heading into the final frame. The Saint Rose lead stretched to six in the early moments of the fourth, before Adelphi closed with an 18-6 run over the final 9:17 to earn the win.Â
Junior guard
Becca Townes topped the Golden Knights (3-15/2-12 NE10) with 13 points, while junior forward
Shamim Wambere added 12 points and eight rebounds in the setback. Fedullo recorded seven points and eight rebounds. Saint Rose struggled from the free-throw line on the afternoon, finishing 7-of-20 (35.0 percent) from the charity stripe, including 0-for-8 in the fourth quarter of the close affair.
Graduate guard Emily Miccile registered game-highs of 30 points, 14 rebounds, and three steals for Adelphi (11-11/9-8 NE10). Miccile tallied 24 points across the final two quarters to help the Panthers snap a three-game slide.
Up next, the Golden Knights return to Nolan Gym on Monday night to host Franklin Pierce at 5:30 pm. Adelphi continues conference play back home against New Haven on Saturday, February 19 at 1:30 pm.
