SPRINGFIELD, MASS.- The College of Saint Rose finished the fourth quarter on a 15-2 rally to comeback and defeat American International 61-53 tonight.Â
The Golden Knights faced a five-point deficit after American International went ahead 51-46 in the early moments of the fourth quarter. However, Saint Rose held the Yellow Jackets to 1-of-10 shooting from the floor over the final 7:34 to close out the Northeast-10 Conference regular season by winning three of its last four games.
Tonight's back-and-forth match-up featured 12 lead changes, with the final change coming on a jumper by junior forward
Shamim Wambere that gave the Golden Knights the advantage for good with 4:30 remaining.Â
For the second consecutive night, the Golden Knight defense stepped up in the final quarter to pull away from the division rival Yellow Jackets. When these two squads met last night in Nolan Gymnasium, Saint Rose closed the game in similar fashion to earn the 56-42 victory over AIC.
The Golden Knights will carry momentum into the NE10 Championsip. Saint Rose is slated to face Stonehill in the first round of postseason play Friday.

Nina Fedullo registered 19 points and six rebounds while junior guard
Becca Townes tallied 13 points, seven boards, and five assists in tonight's win for the Golden Knights (6-16/5-13 NE10).
American International (10-15/7-11 NE10) received 12 points from graduate guard Destine Perry in addition to 11 points from junior guard Zoe Willis.
Saint Rose and Stonehill will tip at 5:30 pm on Friday night in North Easton, Mass. The Yellow Jackets will head to Manchester, N.H. to face Saint Anselm at 5:30 pm in Friday's opening round action.
Notes: The young Saint Rose roster features eight freshmen, four sophomores, three juniors, and one fifth-year…The Golden Knights have now won three of their last four to close the regular season...Fedullo averages 10.6 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game...She stands tied for seventh in rebounding and tied for sixth in blocks amongst conference leaders...Townes scores 10.7 points and pulls down 5.0 boards per game...She also ranks third and tied for ninth in the league respectively with averages of 2.1 steals and 3.0 assists per game…As a team, Saint Rose is second in the conference with 9.2 swipes per game.
