ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose controlled the action throughout tonight's 75-62 victory over New Haven in Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. The Golden Knights lead for more than 38 minutes, including an advantage that reached 15 points in the second half, and shot a season-best 48 percent from the floor to take the Northeast-10 Conference win.
Junior guard
Isabel Sanchez recorded a game-high 24 points to lead Saint Rose. Sanchez showed her scoring ability from all over the floor, including long range, as she finished 4-for-6 from downtown.
Freshman forward
Aniya McDonald-Perry finished with 12 points and senior guard MaKaela Johnson registered 10 points to lead an effort that including 27 points scored off the bench for the Golden Knights. McDonald-Perry topped Saint Rose with eight rebounds as well.
After the two squads played an even first quarter, the Golden Knights established a double-digit lead in the second stanza after opening the frame on a 14-5 rally that including deep balls from Johnson and freshman guard
Kaelah Carter.Â
Saint Rose looked most comfortable on offense in the third, with the Golden Knights shooting 57.1 percent (8-for-14) as a team across the quarter to maintain the comfortable margin that lasted through regulation.
The Golden Knights generated 19 Charger turnovers on the evening, with Carter and sophomore guard
Ryley Blasetti swiping three steals apiece for Saint Rose. Blasetti recorded a team-high six assists as well.Â
Graduate student guard Camryn Debose finished with 22 points and senior forward Aurora Deshaies had 18 points and 15 rebounds for New Haven. Senior guard Kamryn King also logged 14 points and six rebounds in the defeat.Â
Both teams return to action with conference matchups at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, November 30. Saint Rose will welcome Saint Anselm to Albany, while the Chargers head to American International.
