SYRACUSE, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose and Le Moyne were locked in a tight Northeast-10 Conference battle today that saw the Dolphins pull away late in the final frame to claim a 75-70 win.Â
Sophomore guard Catherine Finnerty and junior guard Isabel Sanchez tallied 16 points each to lead the Golden Knights in the setback. Freshman guard Karla's Carter added 11, including a perfect 3-for-3 on from long range.Â
The best play for Saint Rose came in a third quarter in which the Golden Knights out scored Le Moyne 22-11 to flip a 10-point halftime deficit into a one point advantage entering the final frame.Â
Saint Rose edged ahead at 58-55 with 5:48 remaining after the two squads continued to trade baskets in the early stages fourth. The advantage would be the final lead for the Golden Knights however, as the Dolphins closed the final stanza on a 20-12 run to secure the five-point triumph.Â
Freshman guard Aniya McDonald-Perry grabbed nine rebounds to top Saint Rose on the glass. Finnerty and sophomore guard Ryley Blasetti distributed four assists apiece, in addition to Finnerty blocking a team-best three shots.Â
Sophomore forward Haedyn Roberts and senior guard Lytoya Baker lead Le Moyne to the victory with 25 and 19 points,respectively. Roberts was an efficient 10-for-13 from the field and Baker added 11 rebounds to the Dolphin effort.Â
Looking ahead, both teams continue conference play with 5:30 pm meetings on Tuesday. Saint Rose returns home on Tuesday to host New Haven inside Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium, while Le Moyne heads to Long Island to face Adelphi.
