GOLDEN KNIGHTS OUTLAST SAINT MICHAEL'S TO TAKE 69-64 WIN IN OVERTIME

COLCHESTER, VT.- The College of Saint Rose outlasted Northeast-10 Conference rival Saint Michael's tonight, with Saint Rose fighting to a 69-64 victory in overtime over the host Purple Knights in Colchester, VT.

Sophomore guard Ryley Blasetti and freshman guard Aniya McDonald-Perry each logged double-doubles in the win for Saint Rose. Blasetti tallied 14 points and 10 rebounds to go along with McDonald-Perry's 13-point, 12-rebound effort, which marked the third consecutive double-double performance from the freshman to begin the 2022-23 campaign.

Blasetti would also add six assists and four steals to her crowded stat sheet, while junior guard Isabel Sanchez registered 15 points to top the Golden Knight scorers. Sophomore guard Catherine Finnerty was active defensively as well with three steals.

Trailing 57-53 with under the three minutes to go, the Golden Knights would increase the defense intensity to hold Saint Michael's scoreless over the remainder of regulation. Late baskets by Blasetti and sophomore forward Kaileigh Hunt would edge Saint Rose even at 57-57, however last-second chances by Finnerty and McDonald-Perry would come up empty for the Golden Knights, bringing the action to overtime after four deadlocked quarters.

Saint Rose would go on to secure the victory behind seven points from Sanchez across the five-minute extra period. Blasetti added five points to the overtime effort, with her and Sanchez each swiping a steal as well in OT to lead the Golden Knights to the conference win.

Graduate student guard Emma MacDonough netted a game-high 23 points for the Purple Knights, while junior guard Paige Slaven and sophomore guard Molly Brophy added 16 and 11 points, respectively.

Looking forward, Saint Rose continues NE10 against Le Moyne on Saturday at 1:30 pm in Syracuse. Saint Michael's travels to D'Youville for a 1:00 pm non-conference matchup on Saturday.
