TWO LATE GOALS STING THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS AT ASSUMPTION

WORCESTER, MASS.- Assumption University netted a pair second half goals just eight minutes apart to defeat The College of Saint Rose 2-1 in Northeast-10 Conference action this afternoon.

The Greyhounds found the game-winner with 13 minutes remaining, with Daniel Paulson touching home the deciding strike for the hosts. Assumption had equaled the action at 1-1 just moments early with a goal by Brady Devos in the 67th minute.

Senior defender Nick Koenig tallied the opening goal of the day, scorching a 47th-minute free kick into the back of the net from 20 yards out to give the Golden Knights the advantage following a scoreless first half.

Junior goalkeeper Tomas Rozman registered five saves in the setback for Saint Rose (6-4-2/2-3-2 NE10).  The Greyhounds (5-2-3/3-0-3 NE10) generated a 21-14 shot advantage to remain unbeaten in conference play.

Looking ahead, both squads return to action at 7:00 pm on Tuesday night. The Golden Knights are home to host Southern New Hampshire, while Assumption heads to New Haven, Conn. to face RV Southern Connecticut State.
Notes: Saint Rose reentered the United Soccer Coaches East Region Weekly Poll at #10 this week...Junior forward Hilmar Halldorsson is third among the NE10 leaders with seven goals...He was named to the NE10 weekly honor roll yesterday…Nine different players have scored at least once…The team's five shutouts this autumn are one shy of the program record six that was set in 2019 and 1990.
