ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose came back from a 2-0 deficit to earn a draw against visiting Southern New Hampshire tonight at Sullivan Field. The Golden Knights scored twice in a three-minute span to level the action against the Penmen late in the second half.
The comeback started with a penalty kick conversion by junior forward
Hilmar Halldorsson in the 64th minute, followed by a well-struck volley by a junior forward
Nico Faretta only 2:56 later.
Southern New Hampshire began the scoring with a strike by graduate student midfielder Mikel Cortazar in just the third minute of the match, providing the visitors with an early 1-0 advantage that stood until halftime.Â
The Penmen had struck again on a header by junior midfield Luca Shubitidze to double their advantage with ten minutes elapsed in the second stanza, leading to the late Saint Rose flurry that earned the Golden Knights its fourth consecutive draw against the Penmen dating back to 2019.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Tomas Rozman registered six saves to keep Saint Rose (6-4-3/2-3-3 NE10) within fighting range. Southern New Hampshire (6-3-3/3-1-3 NE10) received three saves from sophomore Preston Neal.
