SAINT ROSE BATTLES TOUGH BENTLEY TEAM

ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose fell to Bentley tonight in Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium, with the visitors taking the Northeast-10 Conference win by scores of 25-23, 25-21, and 28-26.

Junior outside hitter Jessica Vargas landed 11 kills, while freshman middle blocker Joanna Forrest added seven attacks. Junior setter Valeria Jorge totaled 23 assists and sophomore Julia Cavalcanti landed four of the Golden Knights eight aces.

After the Falcons claimed sets one and two, Saint Rose staged a 9-2 run to take a 21-17 lead deep into the third frame.  However, Bentley would come back to fight off four Golden Knight set points before closing out the match with a 28-26 victory in the stanza.

Junior outside hitter Ellie Wheeler and setter Amanda Parker topped the Bentley attack with 14 and 12 kills, respectively. Parker also distributed 22 assists to help the Falcons move to 8-1 in the NE10 this season. 

Next up, the Golden Knights head to Ringe, N.H. to face Franklin Pierce at 7:00 pm on Friday. Bentley heads to Syracuse to face Le Moyne tomorrow at 1:00 pm.

Notes: The Golden Knights sit eighth in the NE10 standings with two matches remaining...Jorge ranks second in the league with 833 assists…Vargas (272 kills) and Cavalcanti (218 kills) respectively rank third and eleventh in the conference in kills…Cavalcanti is also first in the NE10 with 58 aces...The Golden Knights are tops in the conference with 198 total team blocks, with Cavalcanti (81), middle blocker Karleigh Fripp (67), and Jorge (63) individually owning the first, second, and fourth-highest block assists marks in the NE10.
