ALBANY, N.Y- The College of Saint Rose remained unbeaten throughout 2022 with today's 2-0 Northeast-10 Conference victory over New Haven.
The #8 nationally ranked Golden Knights received a first-half goal from sophomore forward Mia Klammer, who would also supply the assist on the 61st-minute strike by junior forward Lauren Amerena that doubled the margin to 2-0.
Freshman goalkeeper Pia Bozic made three saves to help Saint Rose (13-0-3/7-0-3 NE10) earn its fifth shutout across the seven regular season contests at Sullivan Field. Graduate goalie Amanda McQuillan turned away seven shots for New Haven (4-10-3/2-9-1 NE10). Saint Rose generated a 16-4 advantage over the Chargers.
The Golden Knights close out the regular season on Wednesday at 7:00 pm at Adelphi. New Haven faces Queens at home in 6:00 pm non-conference matchup on Wednesday.
Notes: The Golden Knights landed at #8 in the most recent United Soccer Coaches National Poll…Saint Rose has outscored its 16 foes 38-8, including 22-2 in the first half, and has held an opponent to one goal or fewer throughout 15 of its 16 matches…In fact, the Golden Knights have allowed just eight goals all year…They have also generated 122 corner kicks while yielding 51…13 different players have found the back of the net…Saint Rose now stands second in the NE10 with a 0.500 team goals-against-average and is tied for first in the conference with 29 goals…Britt is tied for first in the league with seven goals, while Klammer tops the conference with eight assists...Bozic paces the conference with a 0.36 GAA and is second with an 0.896 save percentage...Klammer was recognized on the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll for the period ending Sunday, October 16.
