ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose claimed a four-set victory over visiting Daemen this evening in Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. The Golden Knights picked up the non-conference win with strong play at the net and behind the service line, with Saint Rose totaling 16 blocks and 13 aces against the Wildcats.
Freshman middle blocker Teresa Moulder and junior outside Jessica Vargas recorded 12 and 10 kills, respectively, to help Saint Rose (13-11) win earn its sixth victory in the last seven matches.
Sophomore middle blocker Julia Cavalcanti registered ten block assists to lead the defensive effort. Junior setter Valeria Jorge assisted on seven blocks, while sophomore middle blocker Karleigh Fripp totaled three solo and three assisted blocks.
"We earned a quality non-conference win today. Our team was able to keep the momentum by serving aggressively and getting solid blocks," said Head Coach Vanessa Volpe-Rivera. "We played together and continued to fight until we solidified the win."
Three players landed three or more aces for the Golden Knights, topped by the four tallied by Cavalcanti. Vargas and freshman middle blocker Joanna Forrest added three aces apiece, as well.
Daemen (13-5), who sits atop the standings in the East Coast Conference, received 14 kills from senior outside hitter Maggie Burns.
Looking ahead, Saint Rose returns to Northeast-10 Conference play at Southern Connecticut State. The action begins at 7:00 pm in New Haven, Conn.

Jessica Vargas (240 kills) and Cavalcanti (204 kills) respectively rank fourth and tied for tenth in the conference in kills…Cavalcanti is also first in the NE10 with 50 aces...The Golden Knights are tops in the conference with 182 total team blocks, with Cavalcanti (74), Fripp (61), and Jorge (59) individually owning the first, second, and fourth-highest block assists marks in the NE10.
