GOLDEN KNIGHTS PUT AWAY SAINT MICHAEL'S IN THREE SETS

ALBANY. N.Y.-The College of Saint Rose earned a straight-set victory over Saint Michael's this afternoon in Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. The Saint Rose attack swung .395 while limiting the Purple Knights to a swing percentage of .075 to claim the Northeast-10 Conference victory.

The Golden Knights (11-11/3-4 NE10) received 11 kills from junior outside hitter Jessica Vargas, in addition to 10 attacks landed by sophomore middle blocker Karleigh Fripp. Vargas tallied six digs and Fripp finished with five block assists as well.

Junior setter Valeria Jorge turned in an all-around effort of 25 assists, six assisted blocks, and eight digs. Sophomore middle blocker Julia Cavalcanti and freshman middle blocker Teresa Moulder totaled six kills each, with Cavalcanti adding four block assist and two aces in the sweep.

Freshman outside hitter Ella Patterson recorded eight kills to lead Saint Michael's (1-13/0-6 NE10). 

Up next, Saint Rose travels to Assumption for a 7:00 pm meeting in Worcester, Mass. on Tuesday. The Purple Knights are also back in action on Tuesday to host Franklin Pierce.
Notes: Cavalacanti was recognized on the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll for the period ending Sunday, October 9...Jorge ranks second in the league with 698 assists…Vargas (224 kills) and Cavalcanti (190 kills) respectively rank third and tenth in the conference in kills…Cavalcanti is tied for first in the NE10 with 40 aces, and owns the fifth-best swing percentage with a mark of .345...The Golden Knights are tops in the conference with 154 total team blocks, with Cavalcanti (61), Fripp (53), and Jorge (47) individually owning the first, second, and fourth-highest block assists marks in the NE10.
