THRILLING FIFTH SET CAPS SAINT ROSE COMEBACK AT LE MOYNE

SYRACUSE, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose earned a 17-15 win in the fifth set to wrap a comeback over Le Moyne in which the Golden Knights fought to take the Northeast-10 Conference victory after the Dolphins had claimed the first two sets.

Junior outside hitter Jessica Vargas and sophomore middle blocker Julia Cavalcanti respectively tallied 19 and 18 kills, while freshman middle blocker Teresa Moulder landed 12 strikes for the Golden Knights in the five-set win.

Junior setter Valeria Jorge recorded a career-best 60 assists to go along with 11 digs, while sophomore libero Katelyn Atchinson lifted 13 digs to help Saint Rose (10-10/2-3 NE10) secure its third victory in a row.

"Tonight was a fantastic win! We started off slow but as soon as we started communicating and trusting each other, our game fell into our hands. We fought hard and we let the pressure situations fuel us," said Head Coach Vanessa Volpe-Rivera. 

Neither side established a lead of more than one point in the fifth frame until back-to-back errors by the Dolphins provided Saint Rose with the 17-15 win in the final stanza. The Golden Knights registered a 68-55 kill advantage over the Le Moyne, including double-digit kills totals in four of the five sets.

Senior outside hitter Madeleine Kennedy led the Dolphins (5-10/1-3 NE10) with 19 kills in the setback.

Next up, both teams take on conference rivals at 7:00 on Friday night, The Golden Knights welcome Saint Anselm to Albany, while Le Moyne hosts Saint Michael's.
Notes: Cavalacanti was recognized on the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll for the period ending Sunday, October 9...Jorge ranks second in the league with 636 assists…Vargas (120 kills) and Cavalcanti (173 kills) respectively rank fifth and 11th in the conference in kills…Cavalcanti is also tied for second in the NE10 with 35 aces and Fripp owns the league's third-best swing percentage with a mark of .341.
