SAINT ROSE FALLS TO BENTLEY 60-40 IN TEAM'S FIRST GAME IN 32 DAYS


ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose returned to the court for the first time in 32 days tonight, falling to visiting Bentley 60-40 in a Northeast-10 conference match-up. Tonight's game marked the first game for the Golden Knights since earning a 52-51 victory on December 18 at Saint Michael's in Colchester, Vt.

Junior Becca Townes topped Saint Rose (3-7/2-4 NE10) with 12 points while freshman Kaileigh Hunt grabbed a team high five rebounds. Townes showed active hands as well, swiping four of the 11 steals generated by the Golden Knight defense.

Bentley (8-4/6-2 NE10) owned a 31-15 lead at halftime after controlling an opening 20 minutes that saw the Falcons make 52.1 percent (12 of 23) of their field goal attempts while holding Saint Rose to 20.6 percent (6 of 29) shooting from the floor. Bentley held a major advantage on the glass, outrebounding the Golden Knights 32 to 18 over the four quarters.

Sophomores Janessa Gonzalez and Maggie Whitmore paced Bentley with 14 and 12 points respectively, with Whitmore leading all players with eight boards.  

Both teams are back in action on Saturday afternoon with 1:30 pm conference tilts. The Golden Knights travel to Southern New Hampshire, while Bentley hosts American International.
Notes: The young Saint Rose roster features eight freshmen, four sophomores, three juniors, and one fifth-year…Fifth-year forward Nina Fedullo averages team-highs of 10.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game, with the latter marking the second-best rate in the NE10…Townes scores 9.4 points and pulls down 4.3 boards per game...Townes also ranks second and seventh in the league respectively with averages of 2.4 steals and 3.6 assists each game…As a team, the Golden Knights rank third in the conference with 9.3 swipes on a nightly basis.
