#3 GOLDEN KNIGHTS WIN AGAIN

Saint Rose Makes Statement with 3-1 Victory Against Bentley

ALBANY, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose made a resounding statement while extending its season-long win streak to six matches with this afternoon's 3-1 win against Northeast-10 Conference foe Bentley University. In the process, the Golden Knights (6-0-0/3-0-0 NE10) halted the Falcons' own unbeaten stretch at five matches.

Freshman forward Mia Klammer again displayed her scoring touch by striking twice in the opening nine minutes to put the Golden Knights (6-0-0/3-0-0 NE10) in the driver's seat. Sophomore midfielder Lauren Amerena also scored and set up Klammer's first strike, while fifth-year keeper Marika Laurendeau recorded all four of her saves in the second half to keep Bentley (3-2-2/3-1-0 NE10) in check.

"This was a tremendous team effort today. Ciera Lundy anchored the central midfield with tenacity. Our defense limited chances while Mia, Lauren, Tatiana Leggiero, Samantha Diaz, Kaelyn Britt and Janina Mueller were relentless in attack combining for three superb goals. The team earned an excellent result against a quality opponent," said head coach Laurie Darling Gutheil.

Overall, Saint Rose generated a 15-11 shot advantage and controlled possession for 55.0 percent of the match.

The Golden Knights, ranked #3 in the United Soccer Coaches National Poll for the second consecutive week, started fast as Amerena made a nice run before delivering the ball to Klammer, who fired her shot inside the low left post to make it 1-0 with 6:47 gone by.

Less than two minute later, freshman back Ryleigh Hopeck stepped forward to head a loose ball over the Falcons defense that Klammer ran onto and tapped in from deep inside the box for the game-winner.

Bentley made it interesting when freshman midfielder Sydney O'Connor drove home a shot from 15-yards out off a pass through the area with 34:56 elapsed.

However, Saint Rose pretty much controlled the pace throughout the final 45 minutes and put the finishing touches on the triumph at the 80:16 mark when junior midfielder Janina Mueller set up Amerena, who drove a shot from the top of the area into the high left corner for an insurance marker.

Going forward, both sides have 7:00 pm road conference dates Wednesday. The Golden Knights travel to Rindge, N.H. to face Franklin Pierce, while the Falcons head to Worcester, Mass. to meet Assumption.
Notes: Today was only the second home match of the year for the Golden Knights…Klammer has six goals in the last two matches after scoring four times in Wednesday's 6-1 triumph at Pace University…Saint Rose has outscored its six opponents by a 22-4 margin despite playing four of those contests on the road…11 players have accounted for the 19 goals and 16 players have figured in the scoring column…Klammer now stands atop the NE10 in both points (13) and goals (6).
